Sfax is a Tunisian city located in eastern Tunisia. It is considered the second largest industrial city in Tunisia. It is located about 274 kilometers from Tunis, 137 kilometers from Sousse, 139 kilometers from Monastir 215 km from Hammamet.


Sfax covers an area of ​​5,600 hectares. It forms a municipality of 265,131 inhabitants and three delegations: Sfax west counting 104,998 inhabitants, 54,907 men and 50,091 women divided into 26,653 households and 30,495 homes, Sfax south containing 101,904 inhabitants, including 52,376 men and 49,528 women divided into 24,215 households and 27,426 homes and Sfax city with 105,958 inhabitants, 53,675 men and 52,283 women divided into 28,794 households and 34,872 homes.

Economically, the Tunisian city of Sfax is famous for its industries and its fishing port, it plays a very important role in the economic development of Tunisia as it is a pioneer in the field of export olive oil and fresh or frozen fish and almond production.

Named in ancient Berber Syphax and then Taparura Roman, Sfax is characterized for its archaeological museum has a collection of ancient archaeological discoveries in the city and sites Thaenae, and Skhira Acholla, museum 'Dar Jalouli' home regional Museum of Arts and Popular Traditions and the Municipal Theatre.
