Matmata..

Matmata is a small Berber village located 40 km south-west of Gabes in Tunisia. The village contains about 300 houses cave 2,000 residents whose primary activity agriculture.

The name Matmata comes from the unusual houses instead of building houses, they were dug vertically into the ground. The majority of the inhabitants abandoned the fashion dwelling Matmata Nouvelle, which is a modern town 15 km, without interest. His charm and architecture seduces all who visit Matmata, the famous director
"Steven Spielberg" chose this place as the location for his films "Star Wars" and "Raiders of the Lost Ar" which made Matmata quite touristy.

At 12 kilometers from Matmata, visit Tamezret which is a beautiful Berber village that gives the impression of a small medieval town in ruins.

This village is one of the oldest in southern Tunisia. This village contains 5 districts:
- El Ghirane: where you can find the primary school, the youth, the open-air theater
- El Mezanna: it is the place where you can find services positions.
- Minej: it is a word of Berber origin meaning "west".
- Mehaia
- Tazet: who is the "Northern Quarter".
- Tamezret Tunisia also contains a mosque, a dead coffee and traditional Berber museum
